InFile Seeker

Tools that use the search term you provide to find files are quite common. The free application for Windows InFile Seeker takes things one step further by using your search term to look inside text-based files. So if I enter the query FindMySoft and pick the .txt file type, InFile Seeker will locate all the .txt files that have the word FindMySoft in them.

The InFile Seeker self-installing package is less than 1MB in size, so downloading it onto your machine will take little time. Once you have the installer, just run it, then click through the instructions presented by the setup wizard, and moments later you will be done with the installation process.

At the top of the application’s interface you will see the following tabs:
Seeking setting – enter the search parameters InFile Seeker will use.
Seeking results – once the search process completes, the results will be presented here.
Application settings – choose one of two supported languages (English and Italian), choose the color for highlighting words in the search results list, and play with a few other options.

Using InFile Seeker is a very simple 2-step process:
Step 1 – pick a search term, tell InFile Seeker where to look, choose the file types that will be included in the search.
Step 2 – launch the search process and wait for InFile Seeker to do its job. Once the search is over, you will be presented with a list of results.
